Aeranthes hsying ramosa and more
Here is Aeranthes hsying ramosa. I bought this guy a few months ago from cal-orchids. It is a sequential bloomer that can bloom for quite a long similar to Psychopsis orchids. This is a photo of the first flower:

It smelled like baked goods, not something that should be on a flower! A better way to describe it was like butterscotch although it if you want a fragrant Angraecoid this might not be the one for you. The bloom lasted for about 2 weeks and fell off. Here is the second flower it pushed out: https://c6.staticflickr.com/9/8241/2...39487ef0_n.jpg IMG_20160907_064447_208 by de jon, on Flickr I used this flower to pollinate a local grower's Angraecum lemforde 'white beauty'. The flower on the aeranthes fell off along with the reproductive parts but it seems that the Angraecum is making a pod! This hybrid is very powerfully fragrant day and night. It completely fills a large room. In other news, my Jumellea comorensis is growing its bud very quickly. It has four more spikes on the plant. https://c4.staticflickr.com/9/8386/2...027e4638_n.jpg 1473980556865 by de jon, on Flickr |
