While taking my pup for her morning pee she found this baby in the road at the edge of our driveway. It looked dead, head down, eyes closed. I picked it up and brought it inside. I put it in a container with room temp well water and it perked right up. I live on a fairway and the mowers were out this morning, I think this little one got lucky. There is a large farm pond across the highway behind our house and I'm guessing this may be where it was heading.

I plan to let it go tomorrow after my daughter gets home to see it. She has a thing for turtles. It's very cute!

Looks like a snapper!

I'm pretty sure it is. We have huge turtles like this that come from a farm pond behind our house, across the highway and spend a day going to another pond on the golf course. They travel back to the farm pond in the fall. This little guy was waaay off track on the opposite side of our yard, 3 acres, and quite a distance from any water. Maybe a bird had gotten him? Cute as a bug at this size.

Yea, that's a snapper baby! Have fun with it and I hope you get to see it on occasion as it grows up in that pond. Those are so cool.

It is cool, the tail is so long! It seems to have recovered from being dried out on the pavement, awfully hot here today for the little guy. He ate some ham but not a bug or lettuce. Go figure. His shell is not much bigger than a quarter.

He's a cutie alright.

Yup, snappers like meat.

I am glad you saved the little turtle! Very cute!

He is so cute. I love to see the big ones. They are so prehistoric looking. Glad you were able to save it.
