Bare-Root Phalaenopsis can I safely repot into bark now??
4 Attachment(s)
I had a phalaenopsis that had root rot after a repot. It had a couple okay roots as you can see from the picture...Orchid Whisperer suggested I try the bare root method to get the orchid going on some new roots! I now have 7 new fairly large roots coming in woot woot:dance13: and a new leaf!
I would like to know if now would be good to repot her back into bark medium? Do you think it will stress the orchid out too much? Did I wait too long? I currently soak the roots for about an hour a day...Thanks in advance :) |
Congratulations, excellent job!
You can repot into bark. Go easy on the water, making sure the bark is nearly dry between watering before you water again. If you really want to minimize the chance of root rot, try a terracotta pot, maybe 4 inch diameter, but definitely no larger than 6 inches. |
Good looking roots! It will help them establish if you stake or otherwise secure the plant so it can't wobble in it's pot. Those little tips are tender!
