Bc. A-Noid 'Bill's Best'

Visited a fairly nearby nursery I hadn't known of before today, and my husband really admired this noid catt. The super kind owner gave it to him. He'd had it for years, getting it tagless from an older grower getting rid of his plants. Quite a lovely thing, and sweetly fragrant. Looks like it has nodosa in it, with the speckled lip, fading tepals, and thickened leaves that seem to show a terete influence. Flowers roughly 4 1/2"- 5".

Not even thinking it can be ID'ed, just sharing a lovely plant and the generosity of some of our growers.

Beautiful. It sure looks like a primary B. nodosa hybrid, doesn't it?

Lucky you and hubby...she's a keeper. And such a nice offering from an obviously very good grower. Enjoy!

This plant still has a couple flowers on it that opened after I'd had it a week or so. The new buds opened darker, with definite flaring/tipping of the petals and edging like that of C. trianae 'Jungle Feather'- not saying it's related, but markings like that I haven't seen many places. It seems more regular than color break I've seen. Now that the flowers have faded, it's no longer obvious. Maybe related to light levels when the buds opened too- it was while a tree was being removed, and the plants were temporarily in heavy shade.
It has a bunch of new growths and roots now too- yay! Nice plant even without a name.

It doesn't seem to show enough B. nodosa influence, in plant or flower, to be a B. nodosa primary. The form is more typical of a B. nodosa primary crossed with a big Catt. A nice find though. Probably a vigorous grower.

It sure is a beauty.
