Help with dark brown/black on orchid leaves
2 Attachment(s)
Please help me identify what is wrong with these two mounted orchids. I am in Central Florida; the orchids are mounted and in bright, not direct sun in my screened lanai. I mist daily.
The Angr florulentum is on cork bark. The Encyc cordigera is on tree fern. The growth on the left has dried up and is very hard. So...what is this? Can the orchids be saved? If so, how do I treat them? Thank you. |
I guess - and that's all it is - that you're dealing with acidovorax, a.k.a pseudomonas. Being a systemic bacterial infection, you might want to consider a copper-based treatment.

Old thread I found looking up Angraecum florulentum. It's humid where you live. Orchids can't absorb water through their leaves, only their roots. Don't mist plants. Water the roots. Misting promotes all sorts of bacterial and fungal rots.
