Spots on Monn. millenium witchcraft leaves
3 Attachment(s)
My Monn. Millenium Witchcraft leaves have small spots on them. I repotted it as it was coming out of dormancy a couple months ago. I had it in a south facing (but shaded) window and the first 2 new leaves had a ton of spots. I moved it under my LED lights and the next leaves did not have spots, but now it's outside and those leaves are getting some spots. Outside it's under a tree and gets mostly morning sunlight.
I assume it's sunburn from too much light but it's pretty random. I did find a few spider mites on it the other day and treated the plant, but there were no obvious mites before it went outside. I have attached pictures of the leaves with close-up of the spots. |
Those kind of spots are common. They can be mechanical damage. If the plant is healthy otherwise those spots don't cause trouble at all.
In Cleveland you can give most Catasetum alliance plants full sun all day. Be sure it's really well watered and fertilized. Catasetinae need more fertilizer than most other orchids to grow well. Here is some good information: Catasetinae Culture |
Thanks. Will move it to more light. I am keeping it well watered.

Could it be a little stress to the leaf from the mite treatment? It looks dry, I wouldn't worry about it too much I think.

Could be a touch of phytotoxicity from the mite treatment. I get it sometimes as well
