Spike or new growth on coryanthes acranthe x sib?

I don't know what to think? I am leaning towards a spike but I am not 100% positive. It started out looking very much like a new growth and then it started downward. What do you guys think? I am moving on the 24th and I really hope the move and new house doesn't 'disrupted' the possible spike progress 😁http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d9a36e0cea.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...1d5a889d47.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...81dd932030.jpg

yup I would agree. Looks like a spike to me too. Pretty exciting. Mine recently bloomed and it was amazing. Good luck.

Hi Mandy.

I have seen dozens of Coryanthes flower spikes ...

And while I agree that the photographs do show something which looks like a flower spike,
it does not at all look like a real CORYANTHES flower spike.

I guess (emphasize guess) that it could be some mis-formed leaf growth of a Coryanthes Plant,
the misformation caused by a sudden change of (e.g.) temperature.

Or, it could be the flower spike of a man-made inter-generic hybrid plant ...

Has this plant flowered before ?
'acrathe' is probably deemed to mean C. macrantha ...

Anyhow, it would be nice to see some photographs again, sometime next month, thank you :) .

Yes, the temperature fluctuates quite a bit here in Colorado. The nights are very cool and we have some very hot days. In addition Colorado weather is so unpredictable in the spring :( going to freezing temps then on to warm spells that last a week or so.I have kept it in the same spot in front of a east facing window in my bedroom.
I am also very confused by the name on the tag, I have seen just a few things on the internet about coryanthes acranthe. I don't know if this is a mistake or not? I shall share a pic of the tag and a pic of the bloom last year. I purchased this orchid with a spike last year and it had one marvelous bloom :)
