Super Miniature - Phal Sogo Twinkle
2 Attachment(s)
I purchased this super miniature phalaenopsis orchid a couple weeks ago at the New Hampshire Orchid Society - Symphony of Orchids Show & Sale. It is called Sogo Twinkle and it is from Taiwan. The orchid is in a 4" pot and the leaves are just 4 inches above the pot. Including the flower spikes, it only measures 8 inches tall. Each 1.25" flower is a deep raspberry purple. It is amazing that the plant has 5 flower spikes each with 10 or more flower buds (yes, 50+ flowers). The grower indicated that it should continue to bloom for the next four months and that it will send up more flower spikes during the summer. Good things truely come in small packages.

Phal Sogo Twinkle = Phal Be Tris x Phal Sogo Tris Phal Be Tris = Phal Be Glad x Phal equestris I found out that Phal Sogo Tris 'Sweetheart' = Be Tris x Rudolh Phal Be Glad = Phal Swiss Miss x Phal Cassandra P. Swiss Miss = P. Mildred Karleen x P. equestris Phal. Mildred Karleen = Phal. Judy Karleen x Phal. Sharon Karleen The hybrid between Phal. equestris and Phal. stuartiana was registered as Phal. Cassandra :faint::faint::faint: It's even confusing for me to follow :whew Here is a whole page on Phal Cassandra - Cassandra Check out the breeding section (scroll down) about it's whole history - Development of Phalaenopsis Orchids for the Mass-Market Quite fascinating  Let me include a site of old phal hybrids and their parentage - Growing Phalaenopsis Ever-Spring King in Big Bend, Wisconsin |
