New nubbins on medusae
1 Attachment(s)
I set up my misting system today and was just admiring my orchids and noticed that my Bulb. medusae has two new nubbins. No idea if they are new p-bulb nubbins, or maybe flower spike nubbins. I actually hope for new p-bulbs over spikes. What do you guys think? This is my first medusae and I've had it for a little over a year with not much happening. I moved it to a tank with brighter lights and that seems to have kick started activity.

The reason that I would think "flower spike" is because if you observe the growth pattern, the P-bulbs grow at the end of a long rhizome, not directly from under the bulb like that. I have a medusae cross, and the flower spikes are very thick like that, and come up directly from the base of the bulb.

I can't tell. I sure do wish mine would put out some new growths. At least it is doing something.

I'm pretty sure they're flower spikes, too. Which would be awesome, if I weren't leaving the state for 8 weeks. I may not even be able to enjoy these first flowers! |
Photo resolution too low to tell, although the one on the right looks like a growth. Time of year would indicate both are new pbulbs as this plant typically blooms in autumn off new growth.
