Political Ads

I realize that advertising income is necessary to support the forum, but if blatantly false political ads with completely discredited claims are going to become frequent, I think I'll be limiting my visits until after November.

I can understand the feeling.
I believe the ads come from Google.

The site doesn't choose the ads. Google provides different ads to different viewers based on their database of each person's search and browsing history. So that ad was chosen for you, specifically, by Google, based on what it thinks you look at on the Web. OrchidBoard has nothing to do with it. Each one of us sees different ads that are based on our search and browsing history.

Yes, the ad was clearly targeted for someone in my state. Regardless of the lack of control over ads, when that kind of thing is what I see while I wait several minutes for each page to load it will limit my use.

What you can do is, before loading this site, delete cookies both through your browser and on your computer. If you have windows, do a search for 'cook,' select Delete cookies/history. After doing this, go into your browser and get rid of the cookies. I do this even if I browse incognito as it seems to help. I also use an anti-malware program that deletes cookies. I find that gets rid of nearly all the targeted ads. :)

I just pretty much pay no attention to them. I can't see getting to upset by these type of things.

I live in Canada and still get all the American ads because we use satellite TV. It just seems to be what we have to put up with during an American election. On here, I am almost blind to the ads. I just don't pay attention. But many of them are certainly based on your browsing history and location.

Several months ago,my son installed something called "AdBlock". I'm not techy and cannot explain further but it works!

LMAO.
It's worse on FaceBook.

What you can do if you use Chrome as a browser is go to the Chrome store and download Adblock for free. I've used it for years and I see absolutely zero ads. It's great.
