One blooms one blasts
6 Attachment(s)
So the bad news is my ignea blasted both it's buds that had gotten about 3 inches before it happened. The tiny ones never grew then dried up. It made me think it was going to then broke my heart. I can only think it was humidity as the first one I thought oh did I let it get too dry but the next one I absolutely didn't. They blasted probably about 2 weeks or more apart. The good news on it is that it is growing lots of new leaves and they look much better than last years.
Next I have wubbenii (triangileris x wegeneriana) they say it's a natural hybrid. I love the looks of this little plant. It has opened it's bud now but I haven't gotten a picture of it yet. This is it opening. And I will also put up the pictures of my dried up ignea spikes. |

:) :D My emotional progression through your post. ;) |
I hope your blooms will be a success next time. :)

Love the chubbiness of the entire plant! That short spike is also desireable to me. My imposter has 2 tall spikes that attracts a certain feline, but all she does is sniff!

Perhaps it's too hot? Masd. spikes blast under stress often times.

Then some other kind of stress. Being kept too moist? Too few roots? Maybe too bright?
It's definitely stress of some kind! Mess around with your watering a bit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have also read that ignea likes more light than some others, not sure if that is true or not. |
Lots of Masd. like fairly bright light, but only if their leaves remain cool. I've seen Masd. veitchiana growing happily in near full sun, but with night temps of 45 or below.
You could try a humidifier fan. The only reason I've ever lost spikes is either keeping the plant too moist, or it is too hot. Usually it will be losing leaves too if it's too hot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
