ID this? Or verify
 

Hi, I have a little stinker that I got without a tag. At first, I thought something Brassovola-ish, but now I am thinking Dendrobium wassellii.

Anyone concur?

I don't think there is a problem with cultivar because I am thinking this is the species type. No flower spikes. Is it too young?

There are a number of former Dockrillias that look something like this. You need to wait for flowers.

I am not going to be much help here as I just cannot say. I have a few with the 'Brassavola' shape...Leptotes bicolor, the Brassavolas and one of my mini Dendrobiums. I have often thought it pretty cool how they have the same shape. I am very curious, now, to see what you do have. :)

I think that it is wassellii because the nursery has that on their list of recent public offerings. It is also a lot shorter than many of the other dockrillias. I should send a picture to the nursery and see if they will Id it.

Do the leaves have furrows on sides? I can't tell from the pics. If so, then you are probably right about the wassellii...the growth habit is sure right for the species.

Even with the furrow, unfortunately, you won't know until it flowers. Or, unless the grower can ID it for you.

I agree with Dendrobium wassellii.

That is one of my ID issues. I suppose this has been so well cared for it has never needed to fourrough at the sides. I would hate to deny it water just to ID it. The leaves are 5-7 nches tall, so it is not "tiny"

Leptotes bicolor and the brassovolas have that "seam" down one side as though they were a leaf rolled together, this has no seams whatsoever. In cross section it is nearly perfectly round, but if it was without water and a bit desiccated, it might take on a triangular shape.

I would re-take the photo (lit from the front) & email to the nursery to ask for an ID. I'd call them first so they are expecting your email & don't block it.

Typically wassellii has the furrows even when we'll hydrated. I grew one for several years...until it for too big for my space...and it always had the furrowed leaves. Maybe some don't but its usually a pretty distinctive feature.

There are other Dendorbiums with that form. I have one that is much smaller but, otherwise, it looks the same. It is a Dendrobium prenticei or lichenastrum...not sure which one.
