Is that scale on the left hand bud?

Congrats!! I killed one of these several years back too...good job of keeping it alive AND bringing it to bloom.

The scale-ish looking thing could be the sap that's dried. I see that on some that are super sappy. Kind of like dried sugar crystals. But, it's definitely something you want to check and be sure about.

Again, congrats on the spikes and be sure to post pics when the blooms open.

Great job! I have also killed one of these, though I swear it wasn't my fault - partially. :) What's your growing conditions and potting media like? I might pick one up to try again.

I WILL NOT CONCEDE DEFEAT!

Yes it is sap, a lot off it, that why i pick it up and check on the plant. Spikes are on the side that close to the wall. I usually don't carry all orchid to the sink to water, just put it in the bowl of water that leveled with the orchid pot and soak it over night. That when i noticed spikes. So maybe it have a lot of sap then it blooms?

It is in Medium bark and perlite mix. Cattleya light but not direct. Day-85F, Night-69F. Humidity 50-60%. Good Luck!

Well done. I don't know what it is but I will be waiting to see the bloom.
