Paphiopedilum problem

H have a small Paphiopedilum division that a friend gave me.

I have had it for about 2 months, and it is potted in a bark mix.

After about 2 months, it started growing a new leaf last week, but today I noticed the new leaf is brown and dead.
It does not look "mushy or rotten", just dead.

It is still very much within the fold of the other leafs, so it is not easy to cut off or remove.

Any ideas what to do?
Will this plant die?
Would it try again to start a new leaf?

I would just leave it for now. Just wait paphs can be very slow at times. I don't have that many but they sure do seem to take patients. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will start a new one soon.

Is the leaf coming out of the center of the plant (crown) or is the leaf off the side of the plant? If it is coming out of center, it could be trouble, as it could be a crown rot, and may be the end. It can grow new shoots off the sides, and be alright since you said the leaf was not mushy.

It is the leaf out of the crown.

The other leafs, seem OK and not affected so far.

I put hydrogen peroxide on it, and will make sure to keep the leafs and crown dry... And hope it develops a new growth...

I dont know what else I can do

Outer leaves can die due to higher exposure to water and humidity in the media, especially if they are small. Could you post a pic?

I really don't like Hydrogen peroxide. It is an indiscriminate oxidiser, a bit like pouring battery acid on it.

I had a phrag arrive that got chilled in transit. It had a mature fan ans a new fan, about two inches high. The new fan was dead, with the leaves turning brown, and I was very worried that it was going to die. The person I bought said that it was my fault for opening the package in full sun (as if I were that stupid) ad told me not to use fungicide, so I hit it hard with my go to fungicide (Mancozeb) and it survived. Today it has a new fan shooting so I am very pleased with that.

If there is a dead leaf or something that can't be removed, and I worry that it mat rot, I spray it with that, and I use the dry powder to seal off cuts.
