Vanda coerulescens

When you have 100+ orchids placed in trees around a sprawling yard that looks like a jungle, it's not until some are in full bloom before you notice them. This one is small, a single growth with one spike. The flowers are about 2-3 cm wide so it's easily out of sight until it blooms. Some of this species are fragrant but not this one. No matter, the well-spaced flowers look like swans to me.

Beautiful pastel lilac with a splash of purple! I can just imagine how heavenly your walks around your place must be.

Nice colour on these. Shape is also fuller than most. When these plants get big, they throw long branching spikes and numerous blooms! Saw one in Japan that was covered in blooms. Yours is still a baby... Just you wait and you will be impress when it grows up!!

I would move to Miami just for growing Vandas! LOL |
It's gorgeous. As lovely as it must be to be able to grow orchids outside year round I'm going to have to stay right here. There's just to many people there for me.

There are some beautiful neighborhoods up the east side along Biscayne Bay, little quiet oases where you close your gate and feel you have your own tropical refuge from the world. The air is usually scented at night with white flowers, soft. June I've been here 18 mango seasons. You can hear the din of the city and it's quiet except for the occasional sound of gunshots. So don't move here, no one move here! |
