Outdoor hanging orchid double-T
1 Attachment(s)
My parents found (purchased) this 12 or 15 years ago at a flea market.
It's a "home-make" stand for hanging plants. I've been using it for some of my orchid baskets. It works really great, and at sometime in the future I may try to build another one. |
What a clever use of PVC! We have a bunch of left-over PVC from a project awhile back...looks like I'll put my husband to work. Thanks for sharing.

Good one.
I Used a similar idea except made from copper piping. I only used it for displaying my large pendant Dendrobiums at the OS meetings. The white PVC makes a very nice looking in-home or growing area display. |
Thanks folks for your comments.
That's what weekends are for, katrina. @ voyager, I'm not terribly handy but making a display 'stand' from copper piping sounds like it would be really nice looking! I've looked around online and found some interesting PVC plant-stands...shelf styles...that would be very interesting/nice too. Some PVC, fittings, a cutter, glue, and idea(s)! |
If youre buying the materials, look into schedule 80 PVC as opposed to the common schedule 40. It's stronger, and I notice a bit of sag on the one you have.
|
Looking good so very handy. I can see mine swaying in the wind. Oh did I say swaying I meant completely vertical.

The sag is probably coming from my orchids in the baskets that are hanging on it...seriously in need of re-potting and dividing! I haven't seen the kind of bottom anchor that was used but I envision a stainless steel plate or "X" thingie attached to the bottom of the vertical piece. The pot has stones in the bottom to add support. Sorry for digging up this older post but real life issues have kept me busy and away from the site. |

This is a great idea! I need to look around here for some spare parts and get a bit crafty.
