So I got this little guy a couple of weeks ago and he was out on my patio at first but it was still a bit chilly outside and he seemed unhappy. Now he's indoors under flourescents with a humidity tray, he's still in the sphagnum he came in, I've added a bit on top to cover exposed roots. Now there's a little black spot on one of the leaves and I'm concerned, although this same leaf has put out 2 new little roots. He's one of my first "fancy" orchids and I don't want to lose him!

Unless I have been taken blind, I can't see nything that would make me worry.

Do watch out for cold. A chilled orchid is often a damaged one, and a damaged one often dies on you unless you are very careful.

That black spot is on the protective covering that the bulb and leaf grew from. Unless it spreads swiftly, I wouldn't be concerned. Those will eventually dry up and you can carefully peel them off. It is not part of the main bulb or leaf.
