Phalaenopsis leaves were healthy one by one fell off but has very healthy roots
Hello I received a Phalaenopsis large plant on January 15 2015 nice looking plant at first healthy root system beautiful blooms. The first sign of a problem was the leaves starting turning black at the base soon fell off the other leaves did the thing. Blooms still attached then one by one the 6 blooms starting dropping off..roots are still heathy and at the end of each spike I believe is a mitten forming. What is my poor Phalaenopsis going through? ??

Sounds like you might have some sort of rot going on, maybe crow rot, anyways, post pics so we can have a clear picture of what's going on.

Can you post pictures?
It sounds like crown rot. You could continue to carefully water the roots only & see if you get a basal keiki (new growth from the base of the plant). If it were mine, I would cut the spike off to prevent future attempts by the plant to make more flowers. Good luck with it! |
