Broughtonia Sanguinea Care?

Hello,

I just purchased a Broughtonia Sanguinea and awaiting its delivery to my place. I am told that it is potted in Coconut husk media.

I need help caring for this orchid. What things should I keep in mind?

Can this plant do well in S/H?

Thanks in advance.

I think that it needs to dry between waterings. I have two, and have found that I need to grow them like other members of the Cattleya group, with open media, good air movement, and an opportunity to dry out a bit between waterings.

I haven't grown this orchid, but here is how I would begin: In the top maroon menu bar is a Search function. Type in the name of the plant. There are 4 pages of threads for you to read.

I also used Advanced Search, typed in the name, and selected only the Semihydroponic forum. Nothing came up. That doesn't mean it won't grow in S/H, it just means nobody talked about it.

It being a Caribbean species, I would begin by growing it on a mount and watering it frequently. That is how most people grow it, and how I've seen it grown. Once it is bigger I would divide it and try a piece in semihydroponic culture.
