Creating a grow lantern

This project so inspired me that I've been looking to do something similar ever since. I found this lantern that I thought might work because it's large enough to hide a single lightbulb-type fluorescent grow light suspended from the top. (I don't know if that will create too much heat, but there's also enough room for a computer fan.) Or, it might fit one of Ray's LED lamps (I'll have to check dimensions of that). Dimensions: Total height: 24.5" Height to top of glass: 17" Width: 8.5" Since this would be my first attempt at this, and my first try at miniatures, I'm deferring to those who know much more. Do you think this looks like a good option to start with? There is no side door. The top is on hinges and lifts away. Would this design prove difficult to deal with? Would a side door entry work better? Can you suggest some great sites to go for inspiration and information (other than reading everything here, of course ;) ) on either growing miniatures or creating this kind of grow space? Thanks for the help! |
Cant help you, cause I'm not very handy. But I would google mini orchids and terrarium and stuff to get inspiration.
Just wanted to say it looks awesome, and I hope you get your little but awesome growspace there😃 |
I think going in from the top might be a pain. I guess try reaching in the lantern and see how you feel about working in that area.
