Trichoglottis Pusilla Care
1 Attachment(s)
Hey All!
I was just gifted this Trichoglottis Pusilla :) (labeled Trichoglottis Putida, but I read this is a common labeling mistake in Germany..if I'm correct?) Was wondering if someone could give me any tips or point to a good place for advice on watering, fertilizing, light, rest periods, etc. since I can't find really detailed care sheets. I'm also still learning a lot and can't tell if he's mature enough to bloom and how care differs if he is/isn't. I'm familiar with caring for vandas in Miami where I've just mounted them on trees and they do wonderful, but this little guy seems to need much much different care...especially since I'm now in cold grey Germany lol Thanks for any help =D Attachment 118576 |
Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia might help you get the ball rolling. Welcome!

Welcome! I haven't grown this one. Are the leaves wrinkled? It may need more humidity and water.

Awesome!!! Thank you =D
I just got him yesterday and think he'd been about a week without water. And yup, noticed the leaves look wrinkled. Ah!!!! Gave water as soon as I could, was super worried about the roots, but (although the picture isn't good at showing it) most of them turned a nice green, one seems to be in active growth too. Temperatures seem to be good, but our heaters just kill the humidity. Right now I have it in a little humidity chamber made with some plastic cups until I can figure out what else to do lol hopefully it'll be ok in there! Since the roots are so tiny I'm not sure about fertilizing. I usually give my others a 1/4 of the amount more frequently with flushes of fresh water between. |
I've had one for about 5 years and it blooms reliably and forms new leads (keikis). It's under lights, but not been fussy about intensity. It's on a treefern stick which I've placed in a plastic jar filled with rainwater. It now has a mound of moss through which the plant extends. I've never yet seen roots! Perhaps it doesn't need them, growing in contact with damp moss. All in all, an excellent plant, cute and fragrant.
