Formosae new growth
 

I have some plants that have been in winter rest for a few months. None in flower now. I have new little brown nubs and a few green root tips that are poking on most. Can I resume normal watering? Is it safe to repot now before spring, or should I wait?

What genus?

Umm, I'm not totally sure. They all are in the group that has tiny black hairs on the new growth of pseudo-bulbs, or Formosae. Those that are in question are:
1. Den. Cruentum
2. Den. Frosty Dawn 'Perfection'
3. Den. Roongkamol Vejvanrut 'VKR' X Green Lantern

And then I have this Den. FrostyMaree 'Orange' that looks like the media is shot. It looks like old straw or wood pulp. I want to get it out of that soon, any thoughts?
I thought Dendrobium got us to Genus, but with all the hybrids who knows?

Your first post didn't say Dendrobium so I wasn't sure what you were asking about.

I don't have any experience with these. Maybe one of the Dendrobium growers will chip in. Meanwhile, here is what the American Orchid Society says:

FORMOSAE (Nigrohirsutae Type) Canelike pseudobulbs, with black hairs on leaf sheaths and pseudobulbs often apparent, leading to the popular name nigrohirsutae. Flowers usually white, up to 4 inches across, two to three together from near the end of the pseudobulb. Long lasting. Species such as Den. bellatulum, Den. dearii, Den. draconis, Den. formosum, Den. infundibulum, Den. lowii, Den. lyonii, Den. margaritaceum, Den. sanderae and Den. schuetzii.

Culture: Intermediate to cool year round, 50 to 60 F nights, maximum 85 F days. Water and fertilize when growing; give a slight short rest (dry) when growth is completed. Keep barely moist until growth starts again.

If I had your plants and this were all I had to go on, I would spritz the new roots with water every day or two until growth begins in earnest, then water more heavily. If FrostyMaree 'Orange' is also sprouting new roots, I would repot it now. It will probably need sturdy staking until it's established.

Hoping to see some new blooms next fall, and keep the canes alive and happy for spring. Will need to repot several soon... Honestly, I am erring on the dry side, this is my first winter...
