OK, I've had this setup for a while now - it used to house a water dragon that out grew it and now he lives at the zoo in the educational building! so this is what I have done so far:

Equipment:

A 48"w x 18"d x 21"h reef ready tank with two glass tops which are open for ventiliation and a 1/3 of the tank set up as a "lagoon" with drainage, a waterfall and a fogger

A 48" high intensity 40W flourescent T10 Life-Glo 2 lamp

A Habamist automatic mister (sorry marty, I already had this on hand)

Plants:

Substrate is coco soft and frog moss (with a layer of small pebbles underneath and a drainage hole)

Ornithophora radicans
Phal Crystal Sands (not a perm. resident)
Agsm. Blue Butterfly (menadenium labiosum x acacdlis cyanea)
V. Golden Magic x V. Rasri Gold
Pleur. Stricta

The temp is currently 70 and the hunidity is 80

Am I heading in the right direction or have I completely gone off the deep end?

I personally think you have the right idea except for the lights. T10 aren't strong enough. I think you can do way more with T5 lights. All the rest seems fine for now. Get more light plus maybe a bit of fan (say Coralife 3-1/8" Cooling Fan Kit ) and you should be fine.

Oooo...I see LOTS of potential there! It will be awesome in no time at all! :cheer:

:blushing: Thanx for the confidence, Sue, I appreciate it!

Looks really great. I have to agree with Ross stronger lighting and air circulation will be welcomed.

See, now this is where I have the questions...here is a list of the cid "wish list" -

Pleurothallis Grobyi
Den. Abberans
Den. Atroviolacuem
Den. Rigidum
Schoenorchis Fragrans

SOOO - these were all chosen for a possible dart frog addition to the viv and the cids for the most part require very bright indirect, full to bright and shade to bright. How in the WORLD do I do that in a viv - are the light fixtures to be considered the same as the sun and therefore the cids need to be "shaded" or would they be OK hanging directly under the fixture?....I think I'm getting dizzy!!!:faint:

Hi

I would say that more or less all artificial light is diffuse! Maybe not MH but definitely CF! With T5 you will not have sunburnt leafs but maybe heat the tank to dangerous levels.

It's a big medieval monster that used to live in very deep rivers and lakes in Europe. Due to fancy sports of that time (e.g. Princes and Kings use to make large hunting events and Dragons were the highest trophy they could get) they became very very rare, as well as their cousins Forest Dragons, Air Dragons and Fire Dragons!

Here on the of the last pictures taken in the wild of one of them:

and a contemporary painting of a not yet confirmed living one:

Just kidding... Actually I have no clue irphrog had, but it was to easy to let it go without a joke ;)

You guys are too funny. A water dragon is a type of lizard you can get from the pet store. They can be kind of pricey... I'm impressed phrog got hers to the point where it was too big and had to go to the zoo
