Holcoglossum flavescens
3 Attachment(s)
One year ago, I only had one Holcoglossum species. During 2014 I bloomed several intergeneric hybrids with Holcoglossums as one of the parents, which led to interest in this genus.
I ordered several from Hengduan in China (Holger Perner), and went a bit hog wild at Andy's at the SEPOS show. Shipment from Hengduan arrived in February, and the smallest (H. flavescens) promptly bloomed. Unfortunately the photos I took then were not very good. After a summer in the greenhouse, the plant has grown a second fan, and it is now blooming again. The piece of cork it is mounted on, is exactly 1.75" square, and in the photos I am using a regular staking bamboo to hold it upright. However, not only does this miniature have proportionately very large flowers (3/4" NS), but they are also much fuller than most other Holcoglossums. I intend to breed with this one, to create more compact plants. |
