Potting a mounted Phal. sp.?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I ordered a Phal. sp. (Bellina?) online and it arrived in mounted conditions. I wish to pot it as the humidity in my region is pretty low (35% av.) and I've read on the forum that Phal. Sp. need higher humidity levels. However, the person from whom I bought this orchid told me that if I try to pot this plant, I'll kill it. The plant is fairly well established (photos attached). Should I pot this orchid? How do I un-mount it? Should I leave it as it is? Kindly help me out. Thanks, in advance. Hansu |
Hi, I don't grow this one personally, but I think this is a pretty good link explaining why your bellina should stay mounted:
Phal. bellina I hope it helps, good luck! |
You can use fish net to put in moss or bark and tie it around the roots!

I would suggest keeping it mounted. I have several Phals. which are very happy mounted. If you can mist it several times a day that would be great. The moss idea mentioned above could cut down how often you would need to mist. I do not have personal experience with Bellina though.
