What kind is it?

Can anyone tell me what type of orchid this is? I've had it for over a year and haven't been able to get it to flower. I just moved from Northern VA to Florida and it seems to be growing leaves and doing ok, but the bulb is shriveled...help?

Welcome to Orchid Board.

It looks like an Oncidium. Usually moderate light and they don't like to dry out completely.

Thanks! I will do some research on that.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

Oncidiums need a lot of water. When they don't get enough their leaves wrinkle like an accordion and the pseudobulbs shrivel. The shriveling and accordioning won't go away, but if you treat them properly subsequent growth will look normal. There is a lot of information about them on the Orchid Board.

Good drainage is still necessary as their fine roots will rot if the medium is soggy.
