Dendrobium tannii (bracteosum var tannii) in bloom

Tag reads Dendrobium tannii - web search indicates this might now be classified as bracteosum var. tannii, or, maybe even a cultivar of bracteosum ? :dunno:
Anyhoo ... smaller than typical bracteosum - the biggest cane on mine is about 2" in height, 2" leaves, 1" flowers.

I got this in bloom (a few spikes blooming) in April. I was (happily) surprised when 2-3 months ago I spotted a new spike :D It's been growing in a west facing window that gets some direct sun mid-late afternoon. Watered when nearly dry or dry.

Actual color is both more saturated and brighter than appears in photos - One reason I've not posted bloom photos the past several months is my frustration at not being able to capture colors well *sigh* :p The last photo is probably the closest to the actual color, tho still not as bright nor saturated.

Thanks for looking :)

I have problems with colors also. Usually the reds, purples, burgandy colors. Don't know why the camera doesn't see what I see!

It's cute.

Yeah I find that the only way I can get halfway decent and accurate color with my camera (inexpensive point and shoot) is to take photos during the day in natural sunlight, and no flash. Even then it's iffy.

Beautiful!

It's beautiful!

One of my favorite dens and yours is very pretty. These little guys are blooming dynamos!

Besides the pink tannii, I also have an alba, a bracteosum (white x pink) and a Hibiki (a cross of bract and laevifolium). If you like this one then definitely keep an eye open for the others...especially Hibiki.

As for the color probs in pic...I hear ya. It's very frustrating.

Very nice!

Really cute. I have the same problem as the rest of you.

Thanks, everyone :) I quite like it, especially its seemingly willingness to bloom!

Katrina - thanks for those suggestions. This is a new type of Den for me, so, I didn't know these were such great little bloomers! I will be keeping an eye out for those you mentioned :)

The phone I'm using now, seems to be especially difficult and frustrating. Not just not getting the color, but I often have a difficult time getting non-completely washed out looking flower pix *sigh*. My camera (which was very basic) died a few years back, and a new one isn't really in the budget - but my previous phones had given me pretty good pix with a lot less trouble :p

Flower colors have been hard to capture going all the way back to film. People would load different films for different subjects. Phone cameras tend to be optimized for snapshots of humans, since that's the subject of almost all phone photos that aren't cats.
