Yellow spots on my Phal
4 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone! I have a few questions for my Phalaenopsis and some pictures. My orchid has developed some spots that are concerning me. In the first picture, I have one spot on it's leaf that looks like a brown pimple. I didn't think much of it at first but now there has been some spots that do not look like ache but are green and yellow spots. I a little scared since I am new to orchids. What do you think all these spots mean?

Now that I look for closely, the spots are transparent and giving it a yellow effect. Anybody know whats going on?

Many of my phals have some kind of spot or another. To me, this looks a bit like an insect bite, or perhaps a slight edema, caused by the plant taking in more water than it can use (mine get them when they get rained on at nighttime and can't use all the water they are receiving. It's perfectly harmless.). It doesn't look like a disease to me, and the leaves look very, very healthy otherwise.
Keep an eye on it to see if it spreads, or if you can see any creepy crawlies (or jumpy wumpies). But, unless anyone else recognizes this as an illness, I don't think you have anything to worry about. |
Thanks so much! I feel a little better. It has been colder the past few weeks. I live in Georgia so we get crazy temperature change this time of year. Now its hot and humid this week. I haven't seen any critters so far. It just sits by a window with indirect light. If it spreads, I'll post more pictures.

Looks familiar. I take a Qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol and swab it away. Sometimes I feel it's a critter starting a new life on my dime and can't have that. Keep inspecting it tho.
