Haraella Odorata mutation!

4 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone :waving

I came home to find that not only did my haraella odorata finally bloom, there were two flowers inside of the same bud! Anyone know what this mutation is called and has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks!

Wow that is really cool. I like how it looks

It isn't necessarily a mutation, which must be a genetic change that can be inherited. This is more likely a developmental accident. Building a flower from scratch is a complicated process, and it doesn't always go perfectly. Sometimes environmental stress to the plant early in bud development can contribute, but sometimes it just happens. Extra flower parts or 2 flowers partly fused is a fairly common occurrence, but this is an especially dramatic example. There is no particular name for it.

Peloric? Is that how to spell it?

Love it! How cool!

Not peloric, that's when the mutation/change makes the flower more radially symmetrical. So for example the petals take on features of the lip (sometimes completely look like the lip, sometimes only partially such as some colouring or other features of the lip). This looks to be two lips with the petals and sepals still in place as normal.
