Not just for orchids

Thinking back to the guacamole I needed with my margaritas over the summer.

Excellent!

I have 2 "spider" plants growing in SH, as well as starting 2 African violet leaves in SH too.
All doing well.

How old is the avacado tree?

I'll bring the lime and the salt, and maybe a bag of chips too!

Wow I never thought of trying other plants with s/h! I have two cuttings of a common house plants that seem to sulk everytime I try to put them in a potting soil so I decided I would just leave them in the little glass of water they are growing in. Now I think I know what I can with them! Thanks Ray! How long has the Avocodo plant been growing in the s/h?

I use S/H for a lot of my house plants, works great!

All of my houseplants are in s/h culture - dracaenas, palms, ficus, spathiphyllum, etc.

That avocado sprouted about 8 weeks ago, or so.

Really!! Wow. OK, I have a seed and think I will give it a go. Thanks Ray!!

Well this may be a silly question, but do the roots of houseplant have to adapt to s/h like orchids do? I don't think my hubby would be in favor of me experimenting with some of the house plants as they are sentimental. On the other hand....I have a ton of extra PrimeAgra that I would love to put to use instead of having it sit on a shelf in the garage...lol.

Perhaps you can experiment with cuttings from those sentimental plants. I have some Anthuriums I am unwilling to risk, but I bet I can get a cutting or two to try it with.

Great avocado Ray! I used to have one years ago but it grew too tall for the window i had it in so I think i got rid of it. But maybe i'll try it again.

Becca, I was wondering the same thing about the roots! I would love to try my spider plant and my purple passion plant as they both pout horribly when the soil dries out even a little. And what about fertilizer? Would houseplant fert. make the water too acid? Hmmmm... I would love to try it too but hestitate due to sentimental reasons as well. And some plants you just can't take cuttings from to try first. :hmm
