Visit to Kew Gardens
 

Back in May my hubby and I visited Kew Gardens and as it was our first day out with a DSLR each there were inevitably a lot of photos taken :biggrin:

Unfortunately half of the orchid section was closed (and full of scofolding), but we still saw some great orchids there.

I really love their mount... it's a massive tree limb taking up most of the room it's in with orchids mounted all over. It doesn't show up well in the pictures but the room was also full of sprays of yellow oncidiums, they were pretty much everywhere.

I'm afraid I didn't record names, but the last one here is a peloric Phal equestris.

Great pictures! Kew Garden looks like a fun and beautiful place to visit.

My wife and I are visiting London and Paris for two weeks in April, one week in each city. Kew is definitely on our list of places to visit, I can't wait!

If you ever visit Wasington DC, you should visit the US Botanical Garden, located near the US Capitol building. It is not nearly as large as Kew, but it is a very nice place to spend an hour or two wandering around the place. In the winter, my wife and I like to hop on the Metro and go there with books and spend a few hours on a bench reading. So relaxing, it's warm and humid during our dry winters and it is very nice to escape the cold, especially when it is snowing outside. So cool to see the snow coming down while sitting inside a tropical jungle reading a good book.

Really looking forward to the London trip where I can enjoy all of my addictions: orchids in Kew, great British ales and Arsenal football. Go gunners! :)
