Phalaenopsis base is turning yellow
1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone
i brought this this phal a few months ago, after is flowers died off, it has starting to lose leaves, now the whole base is yellow and only one leave left but the roots still looks healthy to me. It is planted in a finish bark mixture and i don't water it too often i give water maybe once a week or next depending if it looks dry to me. is it some fungal infection or did i over water it and killed it? thanks! |
You have a healthy root system and one healthy leaf. I don't think that the center of the plant is destroyed by rot. So the plant can recover, but it takes time.
What looks yellow is the base of the previous leaves. I cannot tell you why the plant lost it. It happened more likely due to stress than to a fungal infection or overwatering. Do not disturb the plant anymore, do not repot, just continue your care and be patient. Best is indoor growing, medium shade, temperature of 20-25°C and watering once a week. Last but not least: Welcome to ob. :welcome: and :goodluck: |
With phals it is better to water once the roots have turned silver or white. The roots are green and well hydrated in the picture. Let them turn white/silver before you water again, let the plant tell you rather than a set time.
