Keiki with flower?
1 Attachment(s)
I think this is a keiki but it appears to be flowering. It has only been growing for a few weeks. Is this normal? I've never had a keiki but haven't found any similar pictures online. The mother plant is a Dendrobium Nobile, den. Love memory "fizz"

I don't know about the Keiki, but I am sure admiring the roots. I have one too, but it doesn't look half as good
Congrats. |
This is what someone once coined a 'speiki' ;)
Dens do this - they're weird and wonderful :) |
So do I just treat it like a keiki then and remove it when the roots get 3-4 inches long?
And Jungeoma, it came from the store with bad root rot and I had to remove a lot of the roots. I think that is why it has so many new ones. It's in a vanda basket un-staked and seems to really like that. |
Wow! Nice job on that! My den. nobiles don't look nearly that good. I'm somewhat new to them though. I have them in winter rest again this year maybe I will get rewarded as good as you. I gave them extra love this year.

I was new to Dends. last year and did not know about winter rest. So I got a bunch of Keikies on the Nobile Comet King 'Akatsuka'. I could not keep them damp and they shrivveled up and the whole plant died. Too bad, it was very pretty.
This year I know better what to do and they all look better and I even bought some more. Enobi 'Purple Splash' is even spiking.:blushing: |
This is my first den Nobile too so I'm hoping I can get it to bloom next year. I will definately put it on winter rest when it's done growing new canes. Should be soon. Good luck too us all!
