Advice for mini Vanda Ascocenda Doranne Goodwin Growing Sideways/ Crooked

Hello All!

Is there any way to train a Vanda to grow up right or straighten out the stem? I just received this orchid (picture attached) today from Ebay and was surprised when I unwrapped it from the box. It was originally in a plastic pot with some bark and whatnot.

I live in Virginia and plan on putting it in a glass vase like my other Vanda's.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

This is how I manage unruly fans. You may make something and put it in your vase, not sure. They may straighten on their own or by turning the plant over time.

I see it's more of a stem issue, that most likely will straighten as the plant grows and by moving it around with the light source.

Once the stem is crooked, it stays that way. However, this is a young plant. Once it grows up, you will not notice that little kink at the base.

And, as Vandas go, this is not a bad kink.

It doesn't seem real bad, let us know how it progresses.

Oh thanks for sharing that tip! I have another Vanda whose leaves are very unruly.. I'll try it out. Thanks!

Ok, thanks for replying! I'm a pretty new to this orchid madness so I kind of freaked out when I saw it growing sideways.

Glad to know that I'm over reacting and that it's not as bad as I think it is :)
