Rhyncholaelia digbyana
2 Attachment(s)
The white feather bloom from Maya country (Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Belize, Honduras ) is also the National flower of Honduras. In this area a distinctive dry and rainy season rule the rhythm of life. Plants make only one new front bulb per year, unlike Rhynch. glauca which is also a winter grower.
I grow them potted, hanging under the acrylic glass of the greenhouse roof. Repotting may prevent the plants from flowering for 1-2 years. In my observation only strong plants with 12 and more bulbs will flower, so a little patience is needed.
One flower per bulb is normal. For the photo I practiced a little cheating by putting a second pot behind.
And when you switch of the light, an infatuating fresh perfume fills the room at night.
