Luisia thailandica
1 Attachment(s)
Luisia thailandica is not a commonly grown species of Vandaceous orchid. To be quite honest, the genus Luisia is a genus of orchid that is not commonly grown in general. It's a sequential bloomer. The inflorescence is very short, (about 0.5 cm long). Each flower is 1 inch, (2.5 cm), tall. The lip is not black, it is a wine colored type of purple. It has a fragrance that smells like milk and is only present during the daytime hours.
I wonder what would pollinate such an orchid that smells like milk. :scratchhead: |

They are still not fully established, but they are starting to come along after about 1 year. A couple of them are starting to grow new leaves and new roots. This is the only one that bloomed this year. |
I'm going to guess world flora supply, half your luck though, this is one that I just cannot get in Australia so I'm a tad jealous.
