Buying a new orchid.

I would like to know a little bit about the pot.san damiano chocolate drop? Is it fragrant and what does it smell like? I was thinking of buying it and wanted to know its culture care.

Hi Sharlynn, I don't know anything about this particular hybrid, but you can read about Potinara care here in the Cattleya Alliance section:

http://www.orchidboard.com/community/cattleya-alliance/

Potinara is the name for a hybrid with ancestors from genera Cattleya, Brassavola, Laelia, and Sophronitis. Many are very easy to grow, bloom a lot and have amazing colors. They all take similar care.

They need to grow in something with large chunks and large air spaces in between, like big chunks of bark, and the roots need to get dry just before you water them the next time. Many beginners water them too much, which leads to roots rotting. Bark doesn't have any nutrients so they need regular fertilizer, too, but Cattleya alliance orchids can't handle as much fertilizer as people give their lawns.
