Dendrobium victoria-reginae
 

I've always been fascinated with this species. I was fortunate enough to get a few plants from a good friend in Ottawa who bred these himself (kudos David Kalb). Two of these bloomed this week, one on one cane (three spikes) and another on three canes (six spikes). They are both medium indigo blue (although looks more purplish blue under incandescent lighting). Flowers are semi open and with light fragrance.

I grow them in a shaded west window, wet to moist all year. Temp range from 15-32C, 80% humidity and using RO water only, feeding lightly every other watering.

Eventhough I love neos openly, dendrobiums are my secret obsession!

I love the color, it's so pretty.

They look great.
Take care when watering as I forgot and the overhead system fired on, you can see in this photo how water can damage your flowers. And yes it is that blue

Gorgeous blooms....my orchid plant failed to bloom this year....

Wow that colour is sumptuous! Did you notice if colour is different year to year? Is it pH dependent you think?
