Dendrobium lawesii slow growing

My d. lawesii is mounted on a cool log. It has 2 old canes and 2 new canes. The canes are growing soooo slow:yawn:
I'm just not sure what I'm missing. I've had it for over a year and nothing much seems to have happened in that year. I understand d.lawesii require moist conditions with lower light levels, it receives a weak fertilizer every 2 weeks. Any recommendations?

I just got one of these from Marlow Orchids yesterday. He told me that although they can be grown in lower light, they bloom better in higher light levels. I told him I would be growing it in an East window that gets several hours of direct sunlight and he told me that that would be perfect...you might want to consider gradually increasing the light it gets some.

Thank you Judith,

I have moved mine to a sunnier/brighter area and am hopeful I will see some difference...I think they look like spectacularly beautiful blooms! Anxious to see some!

mine need good high light to bloom in texas heat. they also like to be on the dry side in the winter as mine often do. They grow slow and bloom from the leafless canes. if your canes are still green and leafy those wont bloom.

mine bloomed this last winter as it has for over 2 years now. The plant is well over 3 years old and has 9 canes total. 3 more popped up this year with a keiki on one older cane.

lots of leaf but blooms only from older leafless canes
