Exotic Orchids of Maui

If you ever need to really spoil yourself, order from Exotic Orchids of Maui. Their reviews were very high on Dave's Garden but I still had no idea at all that I would be this thrilled. Now I see why people were trying to find a rating higher than A+++. :)
My new orchids came in a heavy box that resembled a florist box. I cut the tape, lifted off the lid and found the usual paper, then the liner and...all the orchids are in cellophane sleeves. The orchids were spotless, obviously very well-grown, and super-healthy. They even sent a bonus orchid...a seedling but something that I really like.
None were in bloom but I ordered young plants for the most part, ones that will soon bloom for the first time. At least one of the orchids is starting a spike.
I was amazed at how fast they arrived. They were ordered Friday, shipped Monday and were here Wednesday, at noon! I was impressed.
Being so cautious when it comes to vendors, I doubt I would have ordered from them if I hadn't been looking for a specific orchid but I really look forward to ordering from them in the future. :)

I had a similar experience with EOM. Highly recommended!

I've done several orders w/EOM over the years. Great plants at a very reasonable rates. But, do be aware that most of their stock is very young and it will be a few years before you see blooms. Still, excellent quality little plants and they have some things that can't be found elsewhere.

I just did an order w/them a few weeks back...some really nice C violaceas, another pumila, and a couple others others that hitched a ride so the vios wouldn't be lonely.

So, leafmite, what did ya get?

Pat'sCatt's 06-24-2015 04:24 PM

Now is wish they would have a European franchise...

Hmmm, Katrina, I was hoping no one would ask what I bought since it completely shows how out of control I have been lately. Ha ha.

I purchased two Eurychone rothschildiana, a Brassavola cucullata, Cattleya aclandiae 'Iguassu' x self, Dendrobium Kauai Evening Song 'Grape Fragrance', Den. kingianum 'Pink' x self and Phalaenopsis deliciosa. The bonus plant was a seedling Phal. bellina var alba x self.

The hanging plants are the Cattleya and the Eurychones.

You are a shopping pro!! Some really nice choices - love my Eury and of course, as you know, I love my cucullatas.

Thanks, Katrina. I might need a little advice on the Eurychone as it is a new one for me. I know it needs shade, warmth and plenty of water...anything else?

I fell head over heels for the Eurychone. The first one I bought had crown rot so, when I found EOM had them, I had to buy two more. I really like the Brassavola, too. Has that nice droopy look, sort of how I will feel when my last child leaves for college this autumn.
I am beyond pleased every time I look at those orchids. The roots are so healthy! The Cattleya aclandiae has roots over two feet long! I can see that the orchids really loved living in Hawaii and hope that they won't mind too much having to be residents of Ohio. Must be a bummer for them. I am babying them by spraying the roots two or three times a day.
I just cannot believe that I haven't discovered this place before now!

I did get the ones in pots all potted up in LECA. Hopefully, the hybrid Dendrobium won't sulk and drop a few leaves. :|

Nice. I have never ordered from them either. I use to look at there sight all the time, it was one of the very first ones I found. I haven't looked in a while, I think I forgot about them when dear hubby did something to the computer and of course deleted all my orchid stuff.

I am now trying to get my stuff back and I forget all the different places I use to have. Thanks for reminding me and I will go and look it up and save once again.

Glad to remind you. :)
