Nice!

Haha, that's how I got started last year, but I think I kept them too dry over the winter or had a pest and lost a few :( I haven't gotten the hang of these yet, but I'm still willing to get more to learn. Anything and everything with denticulatum in it has not done well for me and that's a shame because I LOVE that little species.

So far they are all doing great except the Cycd. is growing slower than the others and has like Sun blisters on the leaves(not in direct sun) but Fred Clarke states that happens some times "no problem" crossing my fingers. Can't wait to it blooms, should be huge, swan shape and some shade of orange.

Nice start! Jumping in head first. I like it. Use caution, catasetums can be highly addictive! I used to be an avid multifloral paph nut. Now my catasetums have all but pushed those aside.

Nice haul! I got my first 1 Catasetum last fall and am still waiting for the roots to be more established before watering. Check out the SVO website for Catasetums Care for Dummies. I also email Fred Clark with pics of mine to ask if it was ready to start watering and he replied within minutes saying I was about 3 weeks away from starting to water. He also sent me a copy of this PDF Beginners Guide to catasetums which I found very helpful and added to the North Jersey Orchid Society Resources webpage.

Maybe this will work!

One of them is starting a spike! What is the average lead time to open flowers for a Clo?

AvantGardner 06-22-2015 08:50 PM

If it is the denticulatum hybrid expect miniature flowers, maybe 5-7 cm, or inch and a half or two.
