Vanda leaves never open

I have a young, blooming-size vanda (though it has not bloomed yet). It is in a wooden vanda basket with no planting medium. The leaves never open on this plant. They appear to be healthy - no pests or fungus, and I fertilize weekly (weakly) or every other week, and mist the roots daily. I also use a plant probiotic monthly. Any ideas on why the leaves don't open? Thanks.

It sounds like not enough moisture. Daily misting is probably not cutting it, try daily soaking.

Thank you, Joann. I will try that. Is it okay that the basket has no planting medium in it?

Maybe, it's a terete vanda and the leaves always remain folded, since it is an adaptation to high light levels. It's not really clear when you say the leaves don't open, as it's not like they grow from a bud and remain wrinkled. Post a picture, to illustrate the problem.

Vanda leaves open if you provide the right amount of light. Reminder: it loves warmth, high humidity and bright light....leaves are closed if there is not enough light....
jcec1 is right....we need pictures=it might be a semi terette vanda ....

Thanks, everyone, for your help. I don't know how to post a picture, but the vanda is Vanda Bangsai Queen 4N which is a strap leaf - not a terete or semi-terete. My vandas get very bright light and are within temperature range so I'm going to try soaking the roots every day instead of misting. Possibly the leaves on this one are not unfolding because of lack of moisture. It's the only one without planting medium in the basket.
