shade house from a dog kennel
I was given a dog kennel for christmas, but have only tiny dogs so I thought I would drag it under a tree and make a shadehouse out of it. In the hot part of summer I'll get some shade cloth, but this natural tree shade is working out well as of now. I'm sure I could even put some kind of roof on it. I do like this idea even though it may look a bit "industrial" because it pretty much is knock down, with two fastners and two bolts per upright, unlike those green house kits that have a million nuts and bolts. This would be good for people who rent or move around.
I've wired large pots to the sides using coat hangers. The smaller pots with the orchids in them fit inside the bigger pots. Well, it's a work in progress... Through the door: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psxtulwe2v.jpg Inside: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psgdsd1lyu.jpg |

I had a 8X10 dog kennel at the last house I lived in, covered it with shade cloth and it worked great!

Ingenious!

The wire mesh is a great place to hang plants. I have reused old wire mesh shelves turned upright to hang plants on in a similar way. Looks like it should work well for you.

Excellent repurposing! I keep a lot of my plants in and on an old bird cage while they're outside. Sun lovers on top provide shade for the plants underneath.

That's a doggone great idea. Very cool recycling.
