Uh Oh what's going on here

Hi there ok all of a sudden my paph. is showing quite a bit of browning on the bottom 2 leaves , is this sunburn?, disease?, bugs? anyone?

Could that leaf have had standing water on it?
Joann

That is a possibility. if so is it a big problem? do i need too do anything too fix it? or just let it heal?

It looks to me like a natural aging process although losing two at the same time is rather strange.
Keep an eye on it and as long as the yellowing/browning do not continue on with other leaves, I would not worry.

Sunburn usually occurs on the top leaves not bottom leaves which are usually shaded by upper leaves.
It is not bug damage.
It could be but does not look like any disease symptoms I can think of.

Have you grown and seen many paphiopedilums?
Vast majority of them lose their oldest leaf (or rarely two leaves together) by yellowing. I have seen some plants turning their oldest leaves brown instead of yellow, which at first freaked me out, but that's how that particular plant shed leaves.
Also, sometimes the "dying" old leaves may show some ugly marks and spots.
So you just need to know your plants.

I hope this is not something too serious.
Time will tell.

Good luck!

Hello thanks for the replies, this is my first paph. its a Paphiopedilum Dollgoldi looks like a nice plant and id like it too doo well, id love too see the blooms on it. i do have a selection of other orchids dens. catts and Phals. they seem to be doing fairly well, and i know each one has different requirements which im learning too meet??? since you all seem to not be too worried i will be patient and watch and tend too it too see what happens. thanks for all the help its greatly appreciated.

I don't think it is P. Dollgoldi.
The leaves look like a completely different plant, more of barbarta group paph. Plus, I think in your photo, the yellow tag says sukhakulii, which does have leaves like that.

Well, sukhakulii should be much easier to bloom than Dollgoldi, so I'm sure you will see it bloom soon. :)
