Prosthechea cochleata?
1 Attachment(s)
Dear all,
I believe this is Prosthechea (ex-Encyclia) cochleata, but still would like to check whether I am not mistaken. Or is there any other similar species? Thank you. |
It is. There are several cultivars with different colored hoods. This is otherwise called the octopus orchid.
|
There are no other species similar enough that this picture could be any of them, but there are some hybrids that are virtually impossible to tell apart from Psh. cochleata. Psh. Green Hornet (cochleata x trulla) and especially Psh. Exotic's Leprechaun (cochleata x Green Hornet) can't be ruled out from this picture. And there may be other hybrids that aren't registered.

Thank you both for replying! This plant comes from the wild.

This is the national flower of Belize! <3

I have two Prosthechea cochleata in bloom at this time. I live in Nicaragua and yours looks just like mine.
