Can there be as many pods as there are flowers?
I'm going to say that I assume not all pollinations will be successful or result in pods but... say if you pollinate all Oncidium flowers on a spike, can the result be seed pods for every flower?

in theory yes but in practice the 'excess' pods will either abort or not develop.
The most I have had is 3 on a zygo ( pollinated 5 flowers ) and even then it was probably too much as the stem bent badly. The pods did not mature simultaneously either. The plant also did not spike the next year as a consequence. You can try and see what happens.... |
