Oncidium growing vertically

I picked up this little guy for cheap at a show (2 Eur), and I've been wondering whether its growth is normal - out of the original pbulb, it grew another pbulb vertically. The new growth has its own roots, and I'm wondering whether I should remove it and repot it or let it be?

I would leave it alone, some Oncs tend to have a climbing growth habit, though in this case it's on the extreme side! What is it?

I was unsure, but another thing, as I was just taking pictures of him for this post - the new growth has a spike! It's a tiny teeny spike, but it's there. So I'll definitely leave him alone, as long as he's happy.
Well, the grower told me it's an oncidium, and that's about it - he didn't have space in his green house anymore, so he was selling a bunch of them for cheap. Whatever the story is, I picked this guy, as he seemed healthy, and only now I started wondering about why on earth is my plant growing so weirdly.

I guess you'll have a better idea of what it is once it blooms! :) Be sure to share some photos here, or else I might die of curiosity. :D

Oh absolutely! I enjoy buying the noID cheapies, the expectation - it's like having several Christmases a year!

You could mount it if the growth habit is growing up rather than out! It would probably be a lovely mount!! :)

I definitely thought about that, right now he lives in a basket hanging from our window (well, the security bar on the window), but he'll need more space if he continues in his vertical adventure :D

Camille, as I promised - here are pictures! It took him two months :)
I wrote the grower for help with ID, so I'm waiting. The flowers are 2cm big, inflorescence 60cm. Can't wait for the full show - we counted 39 buds :)

So far to me it looks close to Onc. Goldiana, I'll watch the flowers as they open up more.

That's a long spike! And nice blooms. :)

It is! He just refused to stop growing, haha :)
Thank you! I'll post more pictures as they open up :)
