Im still a beginner with the orchids. I'm now aware that mine are hybrids. Now I would like to know about the fungicide that the seeds and over all orchid likes I suppose. Would it be like the green stuff growing on the wood?

And if so, would it be safe to mount my orchids on this piece of wood? I love the shape of it so I figured maybe I'll mount two or three of my orchids. Would it be safe? Or should i bleach the wood first to kill the bacteria on the wood and then sand it down?

(10% beach 30% warm water. Something like that; I've looked it up online on a couple sites and forums.Learned to clean branches and other part of wood to place in my aquarium. Worked great.)

2 questions:
1) what kind of hybrids? Phals? Cattleyas? It make a difference due to what the size requirements will be for them to grow well.
2)What kind of wood is this? The only reason that I ask is because orchids are epiphytic, and part of that means that their roots will attach and slightly "dig" into the wooden limbs to which they are mounted. Some of the common trees that we find in the US don't always hold up as well as they should for mounting culture due to the high levels of humidity and moisture that they get daily from near-daily waterings and overall RH of the growing area. Not to mention, from some of the pictures, it seems as though this bough has already started to break down some... I know that several members recommend grape wood that you could get from pet shops for reptiles
(I personally don't have anything mounted, this is all just from being around OB for a while).

Its a Hybrid phal. The mini ones at least. The bigger ones; im sure they are too since I get them from homedepot. And the wood is soft. Its not hard. Im not sure what kind of wood it is. I've even used soft wood for my aquarium and it stood nicely. So the wood will be nicely moist.
