Pleurothallis allenii bloom and a helper or two
1 Attachment(s)
Today while watering I wanted to take a pic of my allenii as it is beginning to bloom for me. Yeah! The allenii lives in my little greenhouse. While setting the plant on the counter, my little pseudoscorpion, or one of them, scrambled off of the pot and onto a paper towel. I snapped it's pic and bumped it into the pot. Then while attempting to photograph the pseudoscorpion in the pot, I noticed a second one very tiny, almost white in color.
The Pleurothallis allenii blooming is exciting but these pseudoscorpions fascinate me. I had to share. It's a little difficult to make out the baby pseudoscorpion but there are two in the pic of the plant. |

I can never load more than one pic at a time.

Pattywack - SO COOL! Very healthy looking plant, also. Nice job of growing.

Stray59, thank you. This is the first bloom on the allenii since I bought it last summer. It had blooms then. It is not a very big plant but has a lot of new leaves growing. I was surprised to see the buds and blooms.
The baby pseudoscorpion really was a surprise. Teenie little thing. The big one I see occasionally. |
Congrats Patty, I have yet to bloom this one, grows great but have not seen any buds in the year I do have it. I love this one too! Great job!

The pseudoscorpion is really neat - I have never seen one, I guess they are not Midwest dwellers.?... I was one of those kids (and still am) who had(s) to turn the logs and rocks over to see what is crawling around under them and I have never crossed paths with one. I would love to though, they look really cool!
Again, really nice bloom! Thanks for sharing - |
Tommy, YOU have not had blooms?! No way. I had this in an east window for months and over the winter it was a little cooler especially at night. About a month ago, I moved it to my little greenhouse that sits in front of that same window. I think that may have helped it to bloom. The warmth and extra humidity. I have a light on the greenhouse as it sits below the window about 9 inches. I have a tiny fan and the top of the greenhouse is usually open. Humidity stays around 70 to 80%.
Whatever the reason, I'm happy with the blooms. |
It's a very pretty orchid 😃

Stray59 I had never seen one before either. I found one in my little countertop greenhouse a few weeks ago. I had to search a lot on line to find out what I was seeing. I've seen it or them several times now. Today was wild seeing the tiny white baby one. Not sure if you can tell what your seeing in the pic with the moss in the plant? The larger one and baby are almost in the center of the pic. They are too cool.
