C Walkeriana
I got this at a Society Auction back in Aug 2012. I am happy to say that its finally going to bloom - even though it looks like a single bloom only.
Pot is an 'azalea' pot - shallow with orchiata bark. I have had good growth but no blooms. This past year I have given it stronger light - its in an unshaded south-facing window. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...e473b73c5a.jpg |
Looks good! Do you know the background on this one?

Oh happy day, when one finally blooms.

I hate to say it but it looks like a hybrid, apart from the flower coming from a leaf sheath, the leaves and pseudobulbs are too thin. Looks like it had something like intermedia in it.

It's a very healthy looking plant--and congratulations on doing a great job getting it to bloom. But I'm in agreement with Orchidsoutdoors in that it does resemble a hybrid of C. walkeriana instead of the true species, which flowers from a weird (and distinctive for a cattleya) leafless growth. That being said, I am greatly looking forward to seeing a picture of the flower.

I can't comment until it blooms and I contact the breeder. He donated it to the auction as a walkeriana and was there when people joked about how long these take to get to bloom. However he has done other catt crosses, so its possible this is a hybrid.
